Take a Bus, Leave your Car . . . It's Better for the Environment

Charter Bus Services
Taking buses instead of cars is always a greener, more environmentally friendly way to travel. Think about it: a car can carry perhaps four to seven people; a bus can carry several times that, over fifty people!

Reasons You Should Park Your Car and Ride a Bus

One of the major reasons that bus transportation is better than car transportation is the fuel mileage: the fuel mileage per person, is fantastic, ranging just about the highest amount of passenger miles per gallon per rider, at about 200 miles per person. According to the American Bus Association and the Union of Concerned Scientists, two people traveling by bus will generate about 50% less pollution than by driving a car. Imagine what a difference we could make to the environment if everyone took a bus! Not only is riding a bus about 170 times safer than riding in a car, but bus transportation also means that there is less traffic congestion. This, in turn, means less carbon monoxide being released into the air. In fact, buses release 80% less carbon monoxide into the environment than cars. We can’t afford to ignore statistics like that!

In order to maximize your eco-friendly bus ride, look for buses that are relatively new and that have received green certifications.

Certifications

When searching for a bus, see if the charter company or bus company has received green certifications. A great example of a bus certification is the American Bus Association’s Green Operator Award, or the University of Vermont Extension Sustainable Transportation Certification. This certification and many other similar certifications award a bus company’s commitment to environmental protection and awareness, often scoring on green friendly ways to drive and earth friendly ways to recycle bus fluids. The American Bus Association itself prides itself on contributing to environmental sustainability, as does ESCOT Bus Lines.

Shuttle Services

ESCOT knows that many companies are looking to decrease their carbon footprint and decrease traffic congestion in their area so it is easy to set up shuttle services using ESCOT buses for your employees who travel to the same locations on a regular basis or during conventions and trade shows, for example. Employees love this idea because it can save them time and money as well as contribute to the company’s overall green initiative. Whether short or long-term shuttle services are needed, remember to call ESCOT to discuss your needs and create an effective plan of action.

Ride a bus instead of driving your car: it’s the environmentally smart way to travel!
