SS American Victory

The SS American Victory is a still functional WW2 Era cargo ship located in Tampa, FL. They offer guided tours of this 455 foot vessel where students learn the history of its making and service, which included the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Students are welcomed to pack a lunch to enjoy on deck while overlooking the bay. Their program lasts about an hour to an hour and a half, and requires a minimum of 10 students, with a max of 45.

With exhibits from Florida’s First People to European Exploration and Cigar City, students will have the opportunity to learn about the long and complex history of our state. Adjoined on one property, these museums are free for school groups and include a short tour through the museum, garden and LaCasita House. Florida Holocaust Museum

Exhibits include a boxcar used to transport Jewish victims as well as artifacts, photos and newspapers demonstrating the timeline of events leading up to the Holocaust. While it’s closed for remodeling through Nov. 17th, 2017 the Museum of Science and Industry (known as MOSI) offers a variety of science based exhibits for students to explore. Featuring interactive exhibits like a Roller Coaster Simulator, Planetarium and 3D Printing Lab, there’s something for every science classroom to discover. MOSI also offers a variety of on site programs for students grades 1st through 8th.

Big Cat Rescue

Big Cat Rescue is an accredited sanctuary dedicated to the care of abused and abandoned big cats. These animals often come from performance acts or were otherwise abandoned by irresponsible (and often illegal) owners. Big Cat Rescue offers a 1 hour walking tour for school groups and requires a minimum of 10, with a maximum of 60 participants. Students must be 10 years old and in 5th grade or above to participate. Students will learn about these big cats and the conservation efforts undertaken to preserve them in the wild.

Who doesn’t love dolphins and penguins? The Florida Aquarium offers a Wild Dolphin Tour, where you will see dolphins happily jumping around in the water from a 72 foot catamaran. If you always wanted to see a penguin up close, you’ll have the opportunity to participate in a backstage visit, where you can feed them, learn more about their environment, and, of course, watch them in action.
